Bezeq needs YES to secure satellite merger
Israel's Bezeq Telecom has confirmed that it has struck a deal to increase its stake in Satellite TV operator YES, reports Reuters.
The incumbent operator has raised its shareholding in YES from 49.8% to 58% after agreeing to antitrust rulings.
The deal is subject to approval from the Israeli Supreme Court, which will be decided upon a hearing in June or July.
Bezeq has been seeking to take full control of YES to enable it to compete with cable operator HOT in offering triple play services.
Eurocom, a 30% shareholder in YES is opposed to the merger.
